Take the workshop that BOSTON MAGAZINE called "One of The Seven Can't-Miss Events of Design Week 2018"!!
Teens begin their textile design encounter with the ancient Japanese art of shibori fabric dyeing. Similar to tie-dye art, shibori applies several techniques including binding, clamping and sewing to create a variety of colorful patterns and designs in cloth. In this workshop, students learn the chemistry and features of indigo, a natural, botanical pigment that can be used to create textile designs that are as individual as the clouds in the sky. Students create a hand-dyed t-shirt and six cloth napkins, and then enhance the unique beauty of their creations with embroidery. This class is being offered at the Rhode Island School of Design. students may register at www.cereg.risd.edu/courses/detail/indigo-dreams-dye-embroider/21190
